The Value of a Wave 'surfonomic' report is full of bad data!

The Value of a Wave 'Surfonomic' report was prepared by Dr. Makena Coffman, Department of Urban and Regional Planning, University of Hawaii at Manoa and Dr. Kimberly Burnett, University of Hawaii Economic Research Organization.

The report was paid for by the Save the Waves Coalition. Mavericks Surf Ventures donates money to Save the Waves Coalition.  Follow the money!

'Surfonomic' Report Conclusion:

"Low-impact, environmentally friendly pastime that relies on a healthy local environment, and is worthy of the ecotourism name. A high percentage of respondents were conscious of environmental impacts from marine recreation, and believed that surfing was a responsible way of enjoying the coastal environment."

The Mavericks Surf Contest crowd is not low-impact.
